Description
The Stag and Pheasant Public House is mainly an 18th-century building with earlier origins. It is a cruck-framed structure with a brick facade, and has a thatched roof topped with a 20th-century brick stack at one end. The building is one storey high with an attic, and has a three-window front. A 20th-century plank door is positioned centrally to the right of the ground floor. There is a 19th-century three-light casement window in the centre, with 20th-century casement windows to the right. Two 19th-century dormer casement windows are visible in the roof. A 20th-century brick extension is present at the rear. The interior has seen the removal of partitions and screens, and retains some original cruck beams, including stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, and one cruck blade remaining to the centre. A large 20th-century wing at the rear is not considered to be of special architectural interest.
