Description
Sunnyside is a house located on Main Street in Clifton upon Dunsmore. It dates from the 16th and 18th centuries, with a brick section dated 1778. The building features cruck and timber framing, with one pair of crucks still visible and later brick infill. It has a thatched roof with brick stacks at the ridge and end. The house is one storey plus an attic and has a three-window range, with a 19th-century extension on the right side. The original layout was a lobby entry plan, and the front door is a 20th-century panelled design. The attic features two late 18th-century swept dormer windows with three lights each. The three windows on the ground floor are 20th-century casements. Inside, there is one cruck truss with saddle remains in the wall to the centre right, along with some original doors and a beam in the ground floor ceiling. The inglenook fireplace has been restored in the 20th century, and while the roof has been renewed in the 20th century, some original timbers still remain. There is also a 20th-century extension at the rear.
