Description
The garden wall to the south and west of the stableblock at Combe Abbey is a structure dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with some later rebuilding. It is made of coursed squared sandstone and stands approximately 2.5 meters high. The wall is in an L-shape, extending about 50 meters south from the southeast corner of the stableblock and approximately 25 meters east from the same point. This wall was part of the outer wall of the Great Garden, which was laid out around 1600, and it is depicted in Knyff and Kip's perspective view of Combe Abbey from around 1690.
