Description
Davenport Cottage is a house dating from the 17th to early 18th century. It has a timber frame with rendered infill set on a high rendered plinth, topped with a 20th-century tile roof. The left end features whitewashed brick and there are ridge stacks. The building has a four-unit plan and stands two storeys tall with a six-window range. The entrance is located in the left half and features a 20th-century glazed door. There is a 19th-century open-fronted porch with windows that have cross glazing on the sides and a single-light window above. To the right, there is a small 19th-century canted window. The windows throughout the cottage are an irregular mix of 19th and 20th-century two-light casements with glazing bars. The return sides of the cottage have jowled posts, and there are some 20th-century alterations at the rear. Inside, the cottage has exposed framing and chamfered ceiling beams.
