Description

This is a group of seven chest tombs located approximately 17 meters west of the tower of the Church of All Saints in Stretton on Dunsmore. The tombs date from the 17th century and 18th century and are made of moulded sandstone, featuring inscriptions dedicated to the Chamberlayne family.

The eastern block consists of three tombs: the first and third have plain piers, with two slabs on the sides and one slab on the ends, topped with moulded surfaces. The southern tomb, dated 1689, is inscribed to Elizabeth. The northern tomb, dated 1694, 1758, and 1751, has inscriptions for Edward, Mrs. Taylor, and Mrs. Dry, respectively. The central tomb features angle piers with moulded bases and capitals.

The western block contains four tombs: the northern tomb is from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with a moulded plinth and top, and square angle balusters, inscribed to John. The second and fourth tombs are plain with chamfered tops; the second is dated 1657 and the fourth is dated 1658, both inscribed to Edward. The third tomb, dated 1658, has a moulded top and is inscribed to Bridget.
