Description

The Ashes is an early 19th-century house located on the north side of Tamworth Road in Nether Whitacre. It is constructed of red brick and features a slate roof with brick integral end stacks. The building stands two storeys high and has three bays, with 16-pane glazing bar sashes that have wedge-shaped lintels, grooved as voussoirs, and raised keys. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door, with the upper two panels being glazed. This door is framed by a moulded wooden surround and topped with a rectangular overlight that has patterned glazing bars. The porch retains some fragments of fretted woodwork and has a lead-covered roof with concave sides. Inside, there is a panelled ceiling, although the interior has not been inspected.
