Description
Cabot Lodge is a house dating from the early 17th century. It is timber-framed with roughcast brick infill panels and has a plain-tile roof with brick integral end stacks. The building consists of a two-cell range that is aligned east-west and faces north, with single-bay extensions at each end. It has two storeys and features three tiers of rectangular panels at the eaves level, supported by straight braces. The windows are irregularly placed, mainly consisting of casements, with two on each floor. There is a 20th-century lean-to porch on the right and a blocked doorway to the left of centre. To the right, there is a two-storey timber-framed extension, and to the left, a single-storey extension with painted framing, likely built over earlier framing. The left gable of the main house reveals an exposed queen strut roof truss that supports part of the purlins and a ridge piece, along with heavily jowelled corner posts. Inside, the house features chamfered and stopped ceiling beams and a large open fireplace located in the eastern bay of the main house.
