Description

The Grotto, located approximately 450 metres southeast of Packington Hall, dates from the mid-18th century. It features a coursed sandstone opening that leads to a brick-lined tunnel connected to the Great Pool. The opening is adorned with rusticated stone, and there is a retaining wall on one side. This structure may have been designed by Capability Brown during the landscaping of the gardens around 1750-1751.
