Description
This barn, dating from the 18th century, is located approximately 30 meters northwest of Abbey Farmhouse. It likely incorporates some masonry reused from Merevale Abbey. The structure features a regular coursed sandstone plinth and a right return side that reaches gable height, with quoins. The barn is constructed of brick and has a dentil cornice, topped with an old plain-tile roof. It consists of four bays, although the front facing the yard is mostly hidden by an attached shelter shed and later lean-to buildings, which are not included in this listing. The barn has a plank door and a stable door with a brick segmental arch. The rear of the barn includes vents, a central segmental-arched opening set high, a similar blocked opening below and to the right, a sliding door, and a window opening on the left. The roof features queen struts. This barn is included in the listing for its group value.
