Description
Outwoods Farmhouse is a house dating from the early 18th century, with a late 18th century service range. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a plain-tiled hipped roof with a moulded brick eaves cornice. The building has a double-pile plan and is two storeys high, with a cogged brick band between the storeys. The symmetrical facade includes three recessed 16-pane hung sashes with stone sills and flat arches made of gauged brick. The central doorway is framed by a mid to late 19th century timber porch with bargeboarding. The side walls have turned balusters leading to an open upper stage. The doorway has a square head and cover strips, leading to a 19th century boarded door with a rectangular fanlight. Attached to the south end is a later 18th century service range, also made of red brick in English garden wall bond, with a plain-tiled roof and cogged brick eaves cornice. This service range is two storeys high and features two first floor casements with segmental arches. Inside, there is an open string early 19th century staircase with stick balusters and a curtail.
