Description
The Castle Coach House and attached wall, built around 1820, is a Grade II listed structure located in Tamworth. This coach house, which measures approximately 33.5 meters long, is constructed of stone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a hipped tile roof. Designed in the Gothic Revival style, it is a single-storey building with a loft.
The coach entrance at the left end has a four-centred head and modern paired plank doors. The central entrance also has a four-centred head and a modern plank door with a quatrefoil pitching eye above it. To the right, there is a window with a four-centred head and the remains of Y tracery. The left side of the building facing Holloway has two small-paned casements for the loft, with the loft entrance located on the right side. The wall to the south features an embattled parapet. This coach house and wall are significant elements in the setting of the nearby castle.
