Description

The wall encircling Tamworth Castle is a structure that likely has medieval origins, with elements from the 17th or 18th century and some rebuilding in the 19th century. It is constructed of stone rubble, with brick sections on the west and south sides. The wall features raking buttresses at intervals, including one brick buttress on the south-west side that has a grille opening. The top of the wall is finished with stone coping on the west and south sides. The eastern section consists of a low coped wall that shows signs of missing railings flanking steps, along with end piers that have pine finials.
