Description

The Swan Inn is an inn, likely built for that purpose, around 1830. It features rendered brick construction and a tiled roof with a dentilled eaves course, along with an end and centre ridge stack. The building is two storeys high and has a four-window front, with glazing bar sashes that have painted lintels. The entrance is located to the left of the right-hand window, featuring an overlight and a 20th-century part-glazed door, with a large wrought iron sign bracket above it. This inn is one of several located near Cheadle, constructed alongside the improvements of the turnpike roads, which included the building of toll cottages.
