Description
The Old Workhouse is a building that dates from the early 19th century and has been altered over time. Originally a workhouse, it now serves as an ancillary building for a hospital. The structure features painted, rendered brickwork and has a raised band at the first-floor cill level. It has a hipped slate roof with a moulded eaves band and a ridge stack located to the left of the center.
The building is two stories high and has a seven-window front, with glazing bar sashes that have painted wedged heads. The entrance was originally located at the third window from the right side, but this area is now fenestrated, though a cornice on flat consoles still indicates the former entrance position. The main entrance has since been relocated to the rear of the building.
