Description
This barn, located approximately 40 meters south-west of New Hall Farmhouse, dates from the late 16th century, with alterations from the 17th century and late 19th century. It is constructed of coursed stone and brick, topped with a blue machine tile roof. The barn has a two-level plan, featuring a hay loft above a byre.
On the south front, there is about 600 millimeters of brickwork below the eaves and above the stonework. The hay loft opening is set in from the left end, with a boarded door to the right end. There is also a concrete block lean-to set back at the right end, which is not included in the listing. The west gable features a range of two 2-light chamfered mullion windows.
Inside, the barn has a central cruck truss with curved blades and a collar, although the apex was not visible during the last survey in September 1984.
