Description
The Church of St. Filomena is a Roman Catholic church built between 1863 and 1864 by Gilbert Blount. It features rock-faced, coursed stonework and a banded tiled roof, with verge parapets and a buttressed bellcote at the west end. The church consists of a nave, which has a south porch, and a chancel. The nave is buttressed at the corners and to the east of the center, and it has four widely spaced lancet windows, arranged in a 1:3 pattern, flanking a gabled porch with a moulded pointed arch. The west end has a slight central projection, featuring a two-light pointed window above the west door and a figure in a pointed niche set beneath the bellcote. The lower chancel is also angle buttressed and has one window, which is pointed and features two lights with plate tracery. The church is prominently located in the village center, adjacent to the approach to the Church of St. Peter.
