Description
Stone House is a house dating from the late 17th century, with refacing from the 18th century and alterations made in the 20th century. The house features a cross wing constructed from coursed dressed and squared stone, with the refacing done in painted brickwork, and it has tiled roofs. The cross wing has verge parapets with pitched copings and corbelled kneelers. The building has a T-shaped plan with a brick ridge stack located behind the entrance at the intersection of the ranges.
The frontage is divided into two parts, with a projecting gabled parlour wing on the left, which is at the lower end of the gradient. This wing has two storeys, a cellar, and a gable-lit attic, along with a raised string at the first-floor level. Originally, there was a single range of windows with three, four, four, and two light chamfered mullion lights, but now only the attic window remains. The ground and first floors feature 20th-century casements that are narrower and deeper than the original windows, and the cellar window has been blocked up.
At the rear, there is a set-back brick cross-wing. To the far right, there is a well-arranged range of three-light casements with a segmental head on the ground floor, and the entrance is positioned against the return angle with a boarded door. The side elevation on the far left retains three out of four original three-light chamfered mullioned windows.
