Description

Knypersley Mill, now a dwelling, was built in 1827. It is constructed of red sandstone ashlar with raised strings at the upper floor and cill levels, and rusticated dressings. The roof is tiled, with verge parapets set on corbelled kneelers. The lower front of the mill, facing the mill pond, is three storeys high (with a single storey on the mill pond side) and has four windows. Modern casements are set within segmental-headed openings. The windows are paired to the left (with one inset on the ground floor) and widely spaced to the right; the top floor windows have lowered cills. There are two entrances beneath the right-hand windows, each with a segmental-headed opening and a boarded door. A plaque above the left-hand door is inscribed "ERECTED/1827." The interior workings have been removed.
