Description
Old Mill is a mill, probably built in the early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed sandstone blocks and features a plain tiled roof with a brick gable. The building stands three storeys tall, with one window on each floor. The windows are framed with heavy square section stone surrounds and mullions. The front elevation includes a low water opening and a small round opening at ground floor level. There is a ground floor window that may have a keystone from an earlier opening above the existing lintel, along with two doorways stacked one above the other on this elevation. To the west, there is a semi-circular brick arch that leads to a former wheel chamber.
The mill originally had a breast wheel with a diameter of 14 to 15 feet, but the machinery was removed around 1960. There is also a low two-storey brick and rubble building that adjoins to the north.
