Description
This barn, located approximately 15 meters north-west of Higher Overton Farmhouse, dates from the 18th century and mid-19th century, with some later alterations. It is constructed of coursed stone and features a blue machine tile roof with a verge parapet on the east side. The barn is 'L'-shaped, consisting of two ranges from different periods, both with two levels and a hay loft above the byres.
The 18th-century range on the west side has two widely spaced dressed circular pitching eyes above four top-hung 20th-century casements, and a full-height cart opening at the right end against the return. There is a catslide roof at the rear with gable access. The east range has a slightly lower ridge height and includes one hay loft door on the left, along with four top-hung casements, three of which are positioned on the left side. The right-hand window is set in a former door opening. Additionally, there is a central boarded door and a further blocked door to the right of a large opening that has been remodeled as a store at the extreme right-hand end. Quoins to the left of the central window in the left half of the east wing indicate the end of the 18th-century block.
