Description
Crumpwood Farmhouse and the attached former agricultural workers' cottage is a building complex dating from the early 18th century, with later 18th and 19th century extensions. The farmhouse is constructed of ashlar stone featuring herringbone tooling and has a plain tile roof with coped verges, along with ashlar integral end stacks that have red brick shafts. The layout of the farmhouse follows an end-lobby entry plan, oriented east-west and facing south, with an 18th century extension to the west and a 19th century rear wing aligned north-south. The agricultural workers' cottage is located to the east, also aligned east-west.
The main farmhouse is three storeys high and has a chamfered eaves course, with the eaves having been rebuilt in the 19th century. It consists of two bays, with chamfer mullioned windows on the first and second floors; the first-floor windows have three lights, while the second-floor windows have two lights. The ground floor features a large three-light flat-face mullioned window, likely from the 19th century, and a door to the left with a raised surround. The extension to the left is made of very finely jointed and dressed ashlar, is two storeys tall, and has a plinth and chamfered eaves band. It has one bay with chamfer mullioned windows; the ground floor window has three lights, and the first-floor window has two lights. The agricultural workers' cottage is two storeys high, has one bay, and features a two-storey cross-window to the right, with a door to the left.
