Description
The buildings at Numbers 6 to 10, along with associated outbuildings of the Trentham Estate, and the Laundry House (Numbers 1 to 3), date from the early 19th century. They are constructed of painted brick with stone dressings. The complex is arranged around a yard at the rear, with a symmetrical wing fronting the road. This wing formerly housed a Malt House, Bakery, Brewery, and the Estate Agent's House. A prominent feature is the stone rusticated semi-circular carriage arch at the centre of the road-facing wing, topped with a lantern having a tiled pyramidal roof and a wind vane. This wing has three casement windows on each side, set within plain stone surrounds, and doorways with moulded stone architraves, rectangular fanlights, small cornice hoods, and six-panelled divided doors. The rear wings, largely disused, feature central carriage arches. The Laundry House, a five-window wing (two windows blocked), is situated on the right-hand side of the road frontage, with a doorway set within a plain stone surround. It has boldly projecting eaves and is roofed with Roman tiles. The building demonstrates group value through its relationship to the wider Trentham Estate.
