Description

The flint calcining kiln, located approximately 5 meters southwest of Coppice Mill, dates from around 1840. It is constructed of brick and features a corrugated iron roof. This small square structure is built into a slope. Inside, there are two round niches in the rear wall. The kiln was used for calcining flint before it was crushed in the mill. Flint played a crucial role in the Staffordshire china industry, making its preparation an important local industry.
