Description

Railway underbridge number 113, built in 1848 for the North Staffordshire Railway, is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings. It features two segmental arches supported by rusticated piers, with the arch over the road being skewed. The flanking piers and abutments are designed to sweep forward and down towards the end piers. At the top, there is a brick frieze, an ashlar cornice, and a blocking course. The south side includes a modillioned frieze with ashlar date panels positioned above the road arch on the right. This structure is noted for its detailed design.
