Description
The Parker Jervis Mausoleum, located in St Saviour's Churchyard, was built in 1864 by John Wood for the Parker Jervis family of Aston Hall. Constructed from Hollington sandstone ashlar, the mausoleum is rectangular in shape with walls that have a noticeable batter and a roll-moulded cornice in the Doric style. A blocking course hides the flat stone roof. The mausoleum features a straight-headed doorway on one short side, which has a plain lintel and a plank door with wrought-iron hinges. It is set into the ground of the churchyard, surrounded by roughly hewn sandstone retaining walls. The mausoleum was funded by the Honourable Edward Swinfen Parker Jervis of Little Aston Hall and his son Edward John Parker Jervis of Aston House, Aston by Stone, and was consecrated on 9th April 1864.
