Description
This is a house, built around 1780, and now used as an office, located on Eastgate Street, Stafford. It is a double-depth plan building constructed with a pebble-dash exterior and a tile roof topped with a brick stack. The house is in a Georgian style and presents a symmetrical three-window façade over three storeys. It has a top cornice. The round-headed entrance is framed by an aedicule with Doric demi-columns on plinths, a Tuscan entablature featuring fluted panels and paterae, and a pediment. Above the paired three-panel doors is a fanlight with radial glazing bars. The building has two bow windows that extend over two storeys, with sills and three 12-pane sashes to each floor, topped with an entablature. A bracketed entablature features above the central first-floor window, which contains a 12-pane sash. The second-floor windows have 9-pane horned sashes. A rear wing is notable for its large brick stack. The interior retains some original cornices, although the staircase has been removed.
