Description

The Chapel of St Mary's Abbey, built in 1854, is a Roman Catholic chapel designed by Edward Welby Pugin, who succeeded his late father, Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin, whose architectural style is evident throughout the building. The chapel is attached to the south side of St Mary's Abbey Convent and is designed in the Gothic Decorated style. It features a nave and chancel, along with a notable wrought iron screen. The chancel boasts a fine panelled and painted ceiling. Additionally, a chapter house and sacristy were added in 1892.
