Description

The Village Club, dated 1904 and designed by architect Sir Guy Dawber, is constructed of red brick with roughcast and a sham timber frame. The building features a hall with two large hipped dormers that rise from shallow bays, which are accented by stone quoins at the brick plinth. Each dormer includes a 4-light wood mullioned window. To the left, there is a two-storey section with an overhanging sham-framed gable that has a 6-light oriel window. The windows throughout the building are leaded. A recessed doorway is located beneath the left-hand gable and is flanked by sidelights. The eaves are boldly lined, and there is a tiled lantern topped with a wind vane. A stone quoin is carved with the Harrowby crest and displays the date above it.
