Description

Great Saredon Farmhouse is an early to mid-18th century farmhouse, significantly altered and repaired in the early 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick with a plain tile roof, raised verges, and brick integral end stacks. It has an L-shaped plan, with the main north-south range connected to a north-east facing rear wing, and a kitchen and dairy wing attached to the north end of the main range on the same alignment. The main house is two storeys with a gable-lit attic, featuring an early 19th century dentilled parapet band and a coped parapet. The facade has three glazing bar sash windows, each with a wedge-shaped brick lintel, along with a false window on the first floor centre. The central entrance has an early 19th century six-panel door set within a panelled doorcase and moulded architrave. The set-back kitchen and dairy wing, to the left, is single-storey with a gable-lit attic and dentilled eaves, with a 20th century casement window on the right and a central brick ridge stack. Inside, the dairy contains a cheese press.
