Description
The Old Deanery, located at No. 36 on Dean Street in Brewood, is a house dating from the early to mid 18th century. It is constructed of red brick with painted ashlar dressings and features large corner piers topped with a full entablature. The roof is hipped and covered with clay tiles, and the building is designed in a Provincial Baroque style.
The house has two storeys and includes a moulded entablature and plinth. There are three windows, which are plate glass sashes adorned with triangular pediments and raised surrounds. The central window on the first floor features a Gibbsian surround. The entrance consists of a central four-panelled door, with the upper two panels being glazed, flanked by engaged Tuscan half-columns and topped with a triangular pediment.
Surrounding the property is a small forecourt enclosed by wrought iron railings set on a dwarf wall. The end piers of the railings have modillioned capping, and there are central gates with finials on the gate posts.
