Description
The structure consists of gates, gate piers, a churchyard wall, and a First World War memorial, located approximately 15 yards east of the Church of St. Michael and All Angels. The gates, gate piers, and wall date from the late 19th century, while the war memorial was created around 1919. The materials used include ashlar and wrought iron for the gates.
The war memorial is designed in Gothic style, featuring a canopied crucifix with crocketed finials set on a panelled pedestal, accompanied by low wrought iron railings in front.
The gates are central and paired, flanked by two smaller gates, all set within two pairs of gabled piers, with the inner piers topped by octagonal caps. A coped wall extends around the east side of the churchyard. The gates are prominently positioned on the west side of St. Michael's Square, highlighting the approach to the church.
