Description
Whittington Old House is a late 17th-century house that was partly rebuilt in the 18th century. It features a timber frame with brick infill, some of which has been replaced with red brick, and has a plain tile roof with brick stacks located behind the ridge. The main part of the house is aligned east-west and faces north, with two rear wings aligned north-south. The building has one storey and an attic, with a sandstone plinth and a dentilled eaves band. There are two windows with casements that have segmental heads, and gabled attic dormers. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door with a segmental head, which is accessed by a flight of steps. The gable ends display exposed timber framing, featuring small rectangular panels and straight tension braces, along with raking strut roof trusses.
