Description
This group of three memorials is located approximately 18 yards south of the chancel of the Church of St. Michael and All Angels in Penkridge. The memorials consist of a pair of chest tombs and an altar tomb, dating from the 18th century and early 19th century. They are made of ashlar stone. The 18th-century chest tombs feature moulded bases and caps, fluted corner pilasters with gadrooned bases, and highly decorative panels on the sides. The altar tomb is dedicated to Joseph Lees, who died in 1804. It has panelled sides framed by fluted corner pilasters and an oversailing cap that steps up to a domed top.
