Description
Pillaton Farm Cottages is a row of three cottages, likely built in the 17th century, with remodeling in the 18th century and an early 19th-century addition and alterations. The cottages are constructed of brown brick, which covers an earlier timber frame, and feature a plain tile roof with brick stacks at each end. The layout is roughly L-shaped, with the main range oriented northwest/southeast and a rear wing to the northwest. The cottages are two stories tall with dentilled eaves and consist of approximately three bays. There is a straight joint between the right-hand bay, which is a 19th-century addition, and the central bay. The windows are casements with cast iron latticed frames; the ground floor windows have segmental heads, and there are additional small casements on the first floor to the right of center, along with a blocked window to the left of center. There are two segmental-headed doors to the left of center and a blocked segmental-headed door to the right of center. Inside, the cottages feature stopped and chamfered ceiling beams, and timber framing is visible on the rear wall.
