Description

Tavern Bridge (No. 19) is an accommodation bridge over the Shropshire Union Canal, built around 1832. It features limewashed brickwork with stone coping and a string course. The bridge has a single vaulted elliptical arch, a level carriageway, and a parapet with half round coping and piers at both ends. On the towpath side, there are cast iron hawser spurs at the springings. The Shropshire Union Canal was engineered by Thomas Telford and completed in 1835.
