Description
St. Mary's Roman Catholic Primary School and Schoolhouse is a school built between 1833 and 1834, designed by Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin. It is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof with raised coped verges and brick stacks. The building is designed in a late 13th-century style and is a single storey with a symmetrical façade that includes three windows, each with two-light glazing bar casements. There is a central projecting porch with a door on the left side. To the right and rear of the school, there is a two-storey gabled house that has mullioned casements. This building is part of a group associated with the Roman Catholic Church of St. Mary, also designed by Pugin.
