Description
Nos. 17 and 19 Newport Street is a house with origins in the 17th century, which was remodelled in the 18th century. The exterior is roughcast over brick, hiding the remains of the original timber-framed structure. It features a clay tile roof with raised coped verges on kneelers and a brick corner stack. The building has a T-shape, is two storeys high, and includes a gable-lit attic. There is a band at the first-floor level, and two windows with 16-pane glazing bar sashes are grouped to the right in a wider frontage. A door is located at the rear in the angle of the T. The interior has been altered but still retains some square panelled timber framing and an inglenook fireplace.
