Description

The Old Manor House is a house, originally dating to 1684, with significant alterations and extensions in the mid-19th century. It is constructed primarily of red brick, with a fishscale tile roof featuring plain tile bands and coped verges. The brick integrated end stacks have star-shaped and filleted shafts. The main north-south aligned range faces east and was extended southwards in the 19th century. Two parallel east-west aligned rear wings are also present, with further 19th-century extensions to their north and south.

The east front has two storeys and an attic, with a decorative toothed band at first-floor level and dentilled eaves. It features three windows and two gables topped with finials. A blind extension bay is located to the left, featuring plain parapet corner pilaster strips surmounted by ball finials. The windows are largely glazing bar sashes with raised and chamfered architraves. The attic has two-light mullioned windows. A mid-19th century canted bay window is located to the left on the ground floor, and a segmental-headed basement window is to the right. A central porch, adorned with a cornice and coped parapet, has a four-centred entrance arch, leading to a Gothic panelled door. A mid-19th century lean-to extension is attached to the right. A central datestone is inscribed “W / H E / 1684”.

The south front, dating to the 19th century, includes a gable end of the east front on the right with French casements. A two-storey block to the left features a large ground-floor window composed of three four-centred arches.
