Description
Leaton Hall is a large house, now used as offices, dating from the 18th century and remodelled in 1817, with later alterations. The house is constructed of red brick, rendered and lined to resemble ashlar, with a hipped roof covered in plain tiles and rendered stacks. It is aligned north-south, with its east-facing side the main elevation. The building has three storeys, with the proportions of the second floor reduced, a parapet band, and a plain parapet. It features eight bays with glazing bar sashes. A central half-glazed door is sheltered by a Doric portico with paired columns. The side elevations have five bays; a central, full-height stair window with Gothic glazing bars is on the right-hand side, and a late 19th-century ground floor bay window with a wrought iron balustrade is on the left-hand side. The interior includes an early 18th-century staircase with turned balusters, a ramped handrail, and a panelled and pilastered dado, which was extended in the 1980s in a matching style.
