Description

The Peake Memorial is a chest tomb located about 22 meters south-west of the south porch of the Church of St John the Baptist. It dates to around 1820 and is made of sandstone ashlar. The tomb features square corner balusters and has moulded inscription panels, with two on each side and one at each end. It also includes a moulded plinth and capping. The memorial commemorates Thomas Peake, who died in 1820, as well as various members of his family. The inscription begins with the words "Sacred to the Memory," which are embellished with a flourish of calligraphic frills.
