Description
The garden seat and flanking urns at the south end of the terrace in front of the east side of Keele Hall were likely created between 1860 and 1880, possibly by the designer William Andrews Nesfield. Made from sandstone ashlar, the semi-circular garden seat is flanked by two highly decorated urns on square pedestals. This type of garden furniture was a common feature in early and mid-Victorian garden design, typically sheltered by an evergreen hedge, and is included as part of the overall association with Keele Hall.
