Description
The ruins of Old Butterton Hall are the remains of a manor house, likely dating from the late 16th century. The structure is built from coursed red sandstone blocks with ashlar dressings. Only parts of two walls remain standing: the eastern wall rises to two storeys, while the southern wall is one storey high. The eastern wall features two projecting stacks with large, damaged fireplaces on both floors of the former internal wall. The southern wall has a disfigured entrance arch. Additionally, part of an internal cross wall is still visible, along with various damaged openings in the east and south walls. The ruins are in poor condition due to neglect and were covered with ivy during the last survey in 1984.
