Description
The Boozy Dog Public House, originally built as a dwelling in the mid to late 16th century, is a public house located at 49 Ironmarket in Newcastle under Lyme. The building features a timber-framed structure that has been refronted in cement render, topped with a plain tiled roof. It is two storeys high and has a hall and cross wing plan, with a projecting gable on the right side. There are doorways located in the gable and at the centre of the main range, along with renewed casement windows. The original jettying is indicated by the projection of the cement rendered upper storey. Inside, some original timbers are still visible, particularly in the roof structure, which includes a cambered tie beam with a pendant and bracing over the main range.
