Description

Birchen Fields Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse located in Armitage with Handsacre. It features roughcast timber framing set on a high sandstone plinth, topped with a plain tile roof and a roughcast central stack. The house has a two-cell baffle-entry plan and is aligned north-east to south-west, facing south-east. It stands two storeys tall with a two-window front, which includes 19th-century casements. A central gabled sandstone porch is present, with a two-light chamfer mullioned window on its right side. The entrance features a segmental pointed arch doorway that leads to a 17th-century oak door, which is studded with nails.
