Description
Church Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the 17th century, with additions from the 18th and 20th centuries. The building is timber framed, with brick and stone additions, and features plain tile roofs and brick lateral stacks.
The farmhouse has a T-shaped plan, with the main range aligned north-south and facing east, and a crosswing to the north. There is also a rear extension wing to the west. The two-storey main range on the left has a sandstone plinth and timber framing consisting of three square panels up to the eaves level. The gabled crosswing on the right is two storeys high with an attic and is fronted in brick from the early 18th century. The first floor of the left-hand return shows exposed framing with closely spaced studs, set on a high sandstone plinth. The windows are irregular and date from the 20th century. There is a 20th-century gabled porch on the left side of the crosswing. Inside, there are chamfered and stopped ceiling beams, and a 19th or 20th-century staircase designed in a late 17th-century style, featuring splat balusters.
