Description
The granary and cart shed, located approximately 20 meters west of Horsley Brook Farmhouse, dates from the mid 18th century with early 19th century additions. It is constructed of red brick and features tiled roofs with verge parapets and a stack at the left end. The building has an L-shaped plan and is a single storey with attics.
On the right side, there is a projecting gable that includes a segmental-headed three-light casement above double cart entries. The left wing is set back and has a gabled projection at the return angle, which is accessed from the first floor via a solid flight of stone and brick steps that includes a segmental-headed dog kennel beneath. There is also a later lean-to addition against the set back wing, covered with a corrugated iron roof. The far left gable features six dove nesting boxes and landing ledges. This structure is part of a complete farm group built for the Swinfen estate.
