Description

Upfields Farmhouse is a late 18th-century brick farmhouse with a slate roof. It is constructed of red brick with a Flemish garden wall band, and features brick integral end stacks. The building has a T-shaped plan, comprising a main range aligned northeast/southwest, facing southeast, and a rear wing aligned northwest/southeast. The farmhouse is three storeys high, with the proportions of the second floor reduced, and includes an offset plinth and a moulded wooden eaves cornice. It has three bays, with glazing bar sashes, the upper-floor windows having segmental heads. The ground-floor windows are 16-pane with horns. A central half-glazed double door is flanked by two small windows and is sheltered by an ashlar porch with paired Tuscan columns and a full entablature featuring a fluted frieze bearing rosettes, and a dentilled cornice. It is believed that the porch originated from Fisherwick Hall (demolished) and was designed by Capability Brown.
