Description
This barn, built in the late 18th century, is located approximately 50 meters northwest of Horsley Brook Farmhouse. It is constructed of red brick and features a tiled roof with a corbelled eaves band. The east elevation has five tiers of small vents, some of which are now blocked, and there is a threshing entrance to the right of the center with double boarded doors. To the left end, there are catslide additions that include a stable entered from the south. The south gable has an entrance to the upper part, which is accessed by timber steps, and there is a further lower wing to the west. Inside, the roof is supported by shouldered king post and tie roof trusses. The threshing floor remains intact and includes a small grain store. This barn is part of a complete farm group built for the Swinfen estate and is particularly similar to the barn at Ingleyhill Farm on the same estate.
