Description

There are two cartouche headstones located approximately 13 metres south of the chancel of the Church of St Chad, dating from around 1720. Both headstones are made of ashlar and feature elaborate cartouches with scrolled cresting. The left headstone includes a cherub at the top, while the right headstone displays a draped cartouche with what appears to be a true love knot or interlace design. The inscriptions on both stones are worn.
