Description
Blythebridge Mill House is a house dating from the 17th century, with later alterations and additions. It is timber framed with brick additions and has a plain tile roof, featuring brick integral end stacks. The house has a lobby-entry plan with two framed bays.
The northeast elevation is two storeys high with a gable-lit attic, displaying four square panels at the eaves. It has two windows and an additional central stair window at mid-height, all of which are casements. To the right, there is a lower two-storey extension with a lean-to that incorporates a door. The southeast gable includes a small attic window to the right, with casements on the ground floor and first floor to the left, featuring parallel diagonal braces between them. There are moulded brackets supporting the attic bresummer and a 19th-century king-post truss.
On the southwest elevation, there is a 20th-century door to the left, with windows on the ground and first floors to the left of centre.
Inside, the hall to the northwest has an inglenook fireplace with an ovolo-moulded bresummer, a straight staircase to the northeast, and wall panelling. There is a small parlour to the southeast, and both rooms feature ovolo-moulded ceiling beams.
